Business Relationship Managers play a vital role in supporting the business with the submission of new ideas and guidance through CDIO front door governance. The role requires ongoing collaboration with the business to enable effective prioritisation and strategic alignment.
As a Senior Business Relationship Manager (BRM), you will engage with business representatives to ensure their complex needs are understood, prioritised, and incorporated into directorate plans. You will also work closely with wider CDIO teams ā developing enduring relationships and an understanding of their products and services and how they might support business driven change requests.

The ideal candidate will have a track record of developing exceptionally positive relationships with collaborators across CDIO and wider HMRC. You should demonstrate strategic awareness and possess strong communication skills, and can prioritise between business and CDIO through an understanding of strategic direction and product backlogs and an ability to understand/translate business problems and how IT can help. A good understanding of CDIO governance and practices is essential. You should excel in a teamwork environment and uphold a culture of leadership, responsibility and top-tier service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Build strong relationships with CDIO and wider HMRC teams and collaborate with BRMs, Product Managers, Business Analysts, and other CDIO teams to interpret business requests.
- Align business and CDIO priorities and elevate key issues.
- Build knowledge and stay updated on CDIO and departmental strategies, understanding the longer-term business needs and promote alignment with CDIO/HMRC strategies.
- Support cross-functional teamwork as directed by the Lead and Principal BRMs.
- Advise customers on demand management for business driven change. Review and guide business proposals.
- Manage and resolve problems, corrective actions, and lessons learned; share relevant information.
- Ensure compliance with CDIO practices, processes and standards; meet performance metrics.
- Strong stakeholder relationship management skills.
