Join HM Revenue & Customs as an IT Delivery Manager. This role will lead the delivery of highly technical and complex projects to support our ambitious goals and maintain world‑class services.
Key Responsibilities
- End‑to‑end delivery of one or more medium‑to‑large IT projects
- Production management of IT delivery plans and status reports
- Identification, management and escalation of IT risks, issues and dependencies
- Raising, monitoring and challenging commercials/costs across delivery teams and commercial partners
- Financial forecasting and tracking of all project expenditure
- Building and maintaining effective, collaborative relationships to achieve successful outcomes
- Applying Agile and waterfall delivery methodologies in a delivery management context
- Line management of Associate IT Delivery Managers
- Removing blockers for successful delivery
- Coaching team members, CDIO and HMRC stakeholders in Agile or delivery management
- Active participation in the Delivery Manager community
- Using team‑forming, norming and storming techniques to build self‑sufficient, empowered teams
- Creating a team environment that fosters success and self‑organisation
- Collaborating with Product Managers and project managers to ensure delivery aligns with scope, requirements and timeline constraints
Required Skills and Experience
- Practical knowledge and experience delivering medium to large scale technical or IT‑enabled business change projects in large organisations
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience operating across tight and complex governance frameworks, with strong risk and cost management knowledge
- Ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships to achieve outcomes
- Project governance: planning, risk/issues tracking and dependency management
- Commercial awareness: managing and monitoring project costs and budgets; ability to challenge external suppliers for best value
- Utilising both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
- Line management experience (ideally of Associate IT Delivery Managers)
Desirable
- Previous experience in HMRC IT end‑to‑end change lifecycle
- Familiarity with HMRC recognised project management tools and methodologies
- Evidence of influencing strategic decision‑making and understanding consequences of IT decisions
- Delivery Management qualifications such as Prince2 Practitioner, Agile Practitioner or Managing Successful Programmes (MSP)
