Deloitte's AI for Sustainability and Infrastructure team works across Energy Transition, Resilient Infrastructure, Sustainable and Resilient Supply Chains & Products, and Digital & AI enabled reporting, compliance & decision making. This role supports clients in the Energy, Resources & Industrials sectors by designing and deploying AI solutions that drive sustainability and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Engage directly with senior client stakeholders across energy companies, utilities, industrial giants, and government bodies to shape, define, and deliver transformative AI and Generative AI strategies aligned with their energy transition and operational efficiency goals.
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced AI pipelines, encompassing data acquisition, preprocessing, feature engineering, model development, evaluation, and secure deployment at scale.
- Oversee the development and operationalisation of state‑of‑the‑art AI models, including large language models, diffusion models, and other generative techniques, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and robustness.
- Stay at the forefront of AI research, actively evaluating emerging technologies and integrating relevant advancements into client solutions and internal frameworks.
- Mentor and guide cross‑functional teams, promoting knowledge sharing, reusable assets, and best practices to drive delivery excellence and sustainable growth within the ERI landscape.
Education & Experience
- Masters, PhD or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or related discipline preferred.
- Strong quantitative, computer science, or engineering background in a related field considered.
- Extensive experience designing, developing, and deploying enterprise‑grade AI/ML solutions, including managing technical teams and stakeholder relationships within the Energy, Resources, or Industrials sectors.
- Proven experience working directly within the Energy, Resources, or Industrials sectors, ideally on projects related to the energy transition, sustainability, or operational efficiency.
- Domain expertise in applying AI and Generative AI within energy transition, renewables, utilities, mining, heavy industry, environmental science, or climate technology.
Technical Proficiency
- Demonstrated success leading the end‑to‑end development and deployment of complex, production‑grade AI/ML and Generative AI solutions; evidence of real‑world impact desirable in areas such as energy efficiency gains, emissions reduction, grid stability, or resource optimisation.
- Expert‑level proficiency in Python and modern AI/ML frameworks, including PyTorch, TensorFlow, and specialised Generative AI libraries (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph).
- Deep understanding of LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, vector databases, and generative architectures; hands‑on experience fine‑tuning, deploying, and evaluating large‑scale production systems.
- Experience designing and implementing evaluation frameworks, security best practices, and ethical guardrails to ensure safe, responsible, and compliant deployment of AI and Generative AI systems.
- Experience with one or more major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Generative AI services.
- Knowledge of MLOps/LLMOps principles, including CI/CD for ML, model monitoring, and governance frameworks.
- Proficiency with data processing and storage technologies (e.g., SQL, Spark).
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with proven ability to translate complex AI concepts for diverse audiences.
