Job description for a Data & AI Architecture consultant at Deloitte. The role seeks a candidate with SC level clearance and a focus on delivering data architecture services to government and public sector clients.
Responsibilities
- Develop enterprise Conceptual, Logical, and Physical Data Models, conforming to national and international standards and conventions (e.g. ISO, UK Government Data Standards, NATO, etc).
- Provide leadership and guidance on enterprise Data and AI Strategies in highly complex multi-disciplinary environments.
- Analyse systems, data and processes to gain an understanding of clients' existing Data Architecture landscapes and then define the target state.
- Provide Data Architecture oversight for our delivery teams to ensure reliable, scalable, highly available, and maintainable systems.
- Introduce data best practices and principles to accelerate technology delivery.
- Lead and mentor junior Data Architects, Data Analysts, Data Modellers and AI Engineers.
- Create and maintain guidance on Data Architecture tools, platforms, operations, and security.
- Lead and support Data and AI Proof of Concepts, pilots and experiments.
- Lead and manage organization-wide Data Governance activities.
- Establish and ensure adherence to Data Governance policies, standards and processes.
- Act as an escalation point for Data Governance, Data Quality and Data Protection/Compliance issues.
- Work with business leaders to improve Data Maturity and Data Quality.
Qualifications
- All applicants must hold SC level clearance.
- Consulting experience, including working on client facing projects.
- Experience of contributing to proposal writing, presentations and pre-sales activities and driving opportunity development.
- Deep Data Architecture experience either within an industry Data or Enterprise Architecture role, or similar within Consulting.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong executive-level stakeholder management using clear communications and being able to form strong client relationships.
- Strong experience as a leader of people, providing dynamic day-to-day leadership that nurtures and develops junior talent, creating effective data design teams.
- Experience in data solution architecture, including establishing design principles, defining solution patterns, and following architecture methodologies.
- Expertise in Data Lake, Lakehouse, and Data Mesh architecture.
- Observability and FinOps (Financial Operations) expertise.
- Experience of establishing common data models and suitable structures to enhance reporting.
- Data Management skills including setting up frameworks describing the processes to plan, specify, enable, create, acquire, maintain, use, archive, retrieve, control and purge data.
- Experience of Data Ontology (Data Catalogue, Data Dictionary and Data Lineage).
- Experience of producing diagrams representing key data entities and their relationships.
- Ability to define the processes to capture, transform and deliver usable data to Information users and most importantly identify the people who will consume the data and their unique requirements.
- A solid foundation in systems development: must understand the system development life cycle, project management approaches, and requirements, design, and test techniques.
- Demonstrable experience of data modelling and design in a large complex organisation.
- Experience and understanding of both established and emerging data technologies, including established data management and reporting technologies.
- Expert knowledge of SQL databases alongside some knowledge of columnar and NoSQL databases, predictive analytics, data visualization, and unstructured data.
- Strong understanding of various data modelling methodologies (e.g., dimensional modelling, data vault).
- Demonstrate a good understanding of Data/Information Governance principles and familiarity with processes, policies, and key vendor platforms such as Collibra and Informatica.
- Excellent communication skills. Must be articulate, persuasive and can conceive and portray the bigger picture to others.
- Experience of flowing data from source systems to business users and creating a series of interconnected data pipelines that serve various business needs using base data objects.
- Experience in engaging with both Business and IT stakeholders to document business outcomes and objectives for large-scale solutions and programmes.
- Experience in working with peers and senior enterprise solution/data architects to align data architecture blueprints across different business units and geographies.
- Collaborating and coordinating stakeholders, partners, and external vendors.
- Experience or working knowledge of load operations and refresh rates (e.g., batch, mini-batch, stream), query operations (e.g., create, read, update, delete).
- Experience or working knowledge of deployments (e.g., on premises, public cloud, private cloud, hybrid).
- Experience of data processing engines (e.g., relational, OLAP, SQL, graphing, mapping, programmatic) and pipelines (e.g., data warehouse, data mart, OLAP cubes, visual discovery, real-time operational applications).
- Staying ahead of technical advancements in cloud analytics and data management space.
- Industry-recognised certifications (e.g. DAMA CDMP, TOGAF, vendor/platform specific e.g. AWS/GCP/Azure).
- Good understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements such as GDPR.
