We audit a broad range of listed organisations and their subsidiaries in the UK and internationally, as well as other public interest entities such as banks and insurers. In the insurance audit team, we work with a wide range of businesses, from listed insurers (life and non-life) to the top international insurance brokers, Lloyd's syndicates and many more across the UK. The team has seen consistent growth in recent years, and this is due to continue making it a very exciting time to be joining the team. We are looking to expand our team of focused, aspirational, and collaborative insurance practitioners, and as such we are offering the opportunity to join as a Director in our Insurance Audit Group to support this challenging and rapidly expanding business. You can expect senior level exposure and variety. You will work with some of the most influential companies in the UK and internationally, offering expert insights across the whole business. Innovation is key for us, underpinned by audit quality. You will be joining a diverse team of experts capable of delivering meaningful and durable change for both our clients and our profession.

As a member of our team, reporting to a Director/Partner, you will:

  • Field manage audit engagements, including management of client relationships and coaching audit teams.
  • Supervise teams to successfully execute engagements in accordance with Deloitte methodology and quality standards, and work to deadlines.
  • Drive our continuous improvement in audit methodology.
  • Participate in business development campaigns and responses to tenders from new and existing clients.
  • Participate and lead on other assurance projects drawing on your skills around accounting, controls and regulation.
  • Participate in practice management activities, including facilitation of internal training courses, staff development and practice reviews.
  • Engage with and support wellbeing activities within engagement teams and the wider Insurance Team.
  • Work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.

You must have the following in order to qualify for this role:

  • Experienced Auditor with a relevant accounting qualification ACA, ACCA, CA, ICAS or equivalent.
  • Insurance sector experience gained through performing external audits and assurance engagements managing medium to large sized audit engagements and audit teams.
  • Knowledge of auditing techniques and standards, including risk assessment, scoping, devising an audit approach using controls testing and substantive testing, and concluding.
  • Experience field managing audit engagements and audit teams.
  • A collaborative approach and be a good team player.
  • Report writing, presentation and interpersonal skills, including ability to engage at all levels.
  • An enquiring and analytical mind and ability to use initiative, be adaptable and solve problems.
