The Deloitte Independence Support Centre of Excellence (DISCoE) team supports key audit clients in monitoring, assessing, and documenting non‑audit services/relationships and evaluating their permissibility. The role offers the opportunity to work with client service teams across the firm, provide technical advice on independence rules, and collaborate with senior leaders and regulators.

Responsibilities

  • Review non‑audit services prior to approval by Partners, then monitor through completion.
  • Provide advice and guidance to partners and engagement teams on technical independence issues, including support for audit, entertainment, gifts and donation queries.
  • Educate partners and staff on existing and new independence requirements.
  • Support DISCoE workstreams and other key projects, delivering high‑quality outputs within agreed timescales.
  • Complete FRC and PCAOB documentation and monitoring procedures in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Review and analyse Entertainment, Gift and Donation queries, consulting with LCSPs, Ethics Partners, Service Line COOs and other senior stakeholders.
  • Identify policy and regulatory breaches in the Entertainment, Gifts and Donations workstream and escalation to management.
  • Work within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.

Qualifications

Essentials:

  • Strong communication skills to manage senior Partner relationships and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to deliver projects under time pressure and within agreed business SLAs.
  • Strong project management, analytical, consultative, decision‑making and organisational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, able to work accurately under time pressure.
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Self‑motivated with a positive attitude and good judgement on when to attend office for meetings and training.

Desirables:

  • Audit, compliance, risk, or Independence background.
  • Previous knowledge of independence regulations.
