Our Assurance practice encompasses skills across regulation, risk, controls and finance with a deep analytics capability. We harness these to provide Assurance to those charged with governance, serving the public interest. Working in Assurance means you will have an opportunity to work alongside leading experts, as we help build and enhance trust between businesses and the public, by responding to emerging issues and protecting the public interest.
To be resilient, businesses must be ready to respond to current and future challenges and opportunities. They are increasingly expected to be more transparent with their reporting, to drive trust and confidence in the market, and protect the wider public interest. Assurance builds, maintains and develops confidence. We provide independent assurance by assessing the risks and underlying processes, providing conclusions as to which risks are being managed and mitigated in line with the business' appetite for risk.
Deloitte's Regulatory Assurance team spans both Insurance and Banking and Capital Markets and specialises in helping senior leaders navigate the regulatory landscape, strengthen compliance arrangements and build confidence in how regulatory obligations are understood, embedded and evidenced. The team has built a reputation for providing pragmatic assurance, as well as innovative technology solutions, positioning itself at the cutting edge of emerging regulatory trends by working closely with the UK regulators (FCA and PRA), industry bodies and clients and conducting its own market research.
We provide regulatory and compliance expertise to projects alongside colleagues in Deloitte's other service lines to ensure they have a holistic understanding of clients' regulatory obligations, compliance frameworks and conduct, governance and control environments. From our team we support compliance framework reviews, regulatory change, compliance monitoring, governance and control assessments, remediation programmes and Target Operating Model design.
We are looking for an Assistant Manager to join the Insurance part of the Regulation team within Regulatory Assurance. The role will be focused on supporting the work we do with firms' Compliance functions across the Insurance industry, with an emphasis on regulatory compliance, governance, compliance frameworks, monitoring and oversight. Your responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will take a lead role in the delivery and management of client engagements, working closely with more senior members of the team.
- You will have experience in a compliance function, the FCA, or a regulatory advisory environment, from the insurance industry.
- You will be proactive in building expertise in response to changes in regulation, supervisory focus and market practice.
- You will be quick in developing an advanced understanding of your clients' business needs, regulatory obligations and compliance challenges, and you will be responsible for creating and maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring that we are adding value to clients' business and that the relationships we create outlast the individual projects.
- Another key aspect to the role is practice management, including preparing budgets, resourcing and client billing, and proactively engaging with the wider activities of the team.
To qualify for this opportunity, candidates must have the following experience:
- Prior experience in a Compliance function, at the FCA, or in a regulatory advisory role within an insurance firm or at the regulator.
- Strong knowledge of compliance frameworks, regulatory obligations, compliance monitoring, governance and market best practice.
- Breadth across compliance topics, with the ability to work across regulatory change, compliance oversight, policies and procedures, systems and controls, remediation and regulatory interaction.
- Understanding of the UK regulatory environment for financial services, including the role and expectations of the FCA within the insurance sector.
- General Insurance industry background preferred, particularly where gained in a compliance, regulatory or oversight capacity.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - both written and verbal.
- Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills, ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexible thinking.
- Ability to think critically and analytically and make informed decisions and judgements.
- Experience in delivering presentations and pitches.
- Experience in conducting stakeholder interviews and interacting with senior board and committee members.
- Strong MS PowerPoint skills, with the ability to 'create' and produce visual representations.
- Aptitude with MS Word and Excel.
- Confident client presence and ability to build contacts and develop relationships.
