Background
HMRC Security are part of HMRC’s Chief Digital Information office (CDIO) and support HMRC to assess business and reputational risks in one of the largest IT estates in Europe. Cyber Security Technical Services (CSTS) and the Government Security Centre for Cyber (Cyber GSEC) are integral parts of HMRC Security. We are responsible for ensuring everyone has the capability to fulfil their cyber security responsibilities and develop individual capability to detect, prevent and respond to cyber security risks and threats. Our vision is to be a recognised Centre of Excellence, delivering a holistic, customer-centric set of technical services to HMRC and wider HMG. We continually adapt and evolve our services to emerging technologies and the ever-changing threat and risk landscape to meet HMRC/HMG business needs.
Purpose of Role
As a CSTS PowerBI Analyst you will be responsible for developing a PowerBI interactive dashboard to report the cyber security posture of projects to business owners and key stakeholders. The role will include engaging with a range of stakeholders to identify user requirements for the dashboard, as well as engaging with relevant governance boards to ensure the dashboard is developed securely and in line with HMRC policy and processes. The work you perform will prioritise service delivery and ensure projects have a good understanding of their cyber security posture and compliance level with the UK Government Secure by Design policy and principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports in PowerBI.
- Liaise and collaborate with key stakeholders to understand requirements for the dashboard.
- Provide management information and support wider information requests.
- Maintain data accuracy and integrity within BI systems.
- Take the dashboard through relevant governance boards.
You will be skilled in and able to:
- Data analytics proficiency.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and data modelling techniques.
- Expertise in creating Power BI dashboards.
- Critical thinking for effective problem-solving.
- Develop approaches to normalise disparate data correlate to identify trends.
- Work across multiple projects to provide a consistent view of outcomes/outputs.
Minimum Skill Expectation
- Direct work experience at practitioner level in:
- Data Analysis
- Business Analysis
- Senior Relationship Management
- HMG experience and knowledge
Indicative Professional Qualifications / accreditations
- Membership of a relevant institution or body.
