As an Operational Support Grade Driver, you will play a key part in supporting the day‑to‑day running of a busy prison. Your duties involve security and searches at the gate, managing deliveries, supervising visitors, monitoring phone calls and CCTV, and escorting vehicles across the prison grounds. The role requires a mix of desk duties and physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and walking.
You will work a variety of shifts, including weekend and night shifts, to keep the prison running smoothly.
Responsibilities- Security and searches at the gate
- Managing deliveries
- Supervising visitors
- Monitoring phone calls and CCTV
- Escorting vehicles across the prison grounds
- Performing desk duties and physical tasks including lifting, carrying, and walking
- Full, valid UK driving licence (including the D1 vehicle category)
- Ability to drive vehicles with no more than 16 passenger seats, a maximum length of 8 metres, and a trailer up to 750kg
- Good communicator
- Ability to stay calm under pressure
- Good judgement and common sense
- Team player
- Annual leave: 25 days on appointment, increasing to 30 days after 10 years of service (pro‑rated)
