We are looking for a Community Payback Supervisor who will work directly with offenders serving a community sentence to supervise and motivate them to complete unpaid work placements. The successful candidate will spend up to 7 hours each workday guiding a small group of offenders, ensuring tasks are carried out safely and to a high standard.
In this role you will also be responsible for driving service vehicles to transport people or equipment, handling work‑site supervision tasks, and working with service users to demonstrate good practice. You may be required to work frequent weekends and some evenings. Weekend work is paid at a 50% higher rate.
The role is part of the Probation Service’s Community Payback team, which offers progression through a Competency Based Framework and annual band pay increases aligned with Civil Service guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and motivate offenders to complete unpaid community work hours.
- Plan, organise and lead manual tasks such as cleaning streets, planting trees, laying flowerbeds, graffiti removal and other community restoration projects.
- Use full UK Manual Driving Licence to transport offenders and equipment to and from work sites.
- Ensure safety, fitness and wellbeing of all participants during work placements.
- Record and report work progress and incidents to senior staff.

- Full UK manual driving licence (automatic licence not acceptable).
- UK right to work in the Civil Service and the United Kingdom.
