Overview
The post holder will be required to deliver interventions from two office locations: Mitre House, 223-227 Borough High Street, London SE1 1JD, and 179 Marylebone Road, London NW1 5BR. The role will primarily involve working with individuals convicted of sexual offences. The post holder will also be expected to attend and successfully complete accredited programme training held outside of London, including two separate one-week residential training events. Some evening work will be required as part of the role. The job involves delivering a range of Accredited Programmes and Structured Interventions, in group and individual formats, to people subject to Community Orders or on licence after release from prison. The work aims to reduce re-offending, support rehabilitation, and help people build pro-social lives. You will work with people who have perpetrated domestic abuse, sexual abuse and/or other offences. The team is diverse and focused on helping people on probation, while sharing information with Probation Practitioners and Domestic Abuse Safety Officers. Travel to different locations to deliver programmes is required, with travel expenses claimable. Extensive training and support are provided to ensure confidence and competence. A 6-month probationary period including an assessment centre and training assessment is required. Unsocial hours payments apply for evenings and Saturdays.
Responsibilities, Activities & Duties
- Responsible for the planning and delivery of interventions in a group or on an individual basis to people on probation. Develop and build a therapeutic and safe working environment in line with operational manuals, considering different learning styles and abilities.
- Adhere to statutory safeguarding responsibilities (Children and Adults) and multi-agency public protection policies to manage risks of serious harm.
- Manage group dynamics and address the needs of people on probation to ensure effective learning outcomes; address any problematic behaviour within groups.
- Continuously monitor and provide informed recommendations around suitability, risk, safety and wellbeing to inform future sentence management.
- Complete timely and accurate recording of attendance, feedback, risk issues, and relevant reports to meet quality assurance requirements.
- Liaise and provide timely communication and analysis of participants’ progress with Probation Practitioners and other agencies (Courts, Criminal Justice Agencies, etc.) responsible for enforcement and risk management plans.
- Deliver workshops and briefings to Probation staff and external stakeholders on the range, purpose and content of interventions available.
- Demonstrate pro-social modelling and consistently reinforce pro-social behaviour while challenging anti-social attitudes.
- Participate in regular video monitoring feedback sessions to ensure audit standards are met and to reflect on practice and undertake advised professional development.
- Adhere to policies regarding the confidential nature of information and demonstrate a commitment to equality and inclusion.
