- Job Purpose
The postholder will be responsible for the overall daily operation and management of the Housekeeping team.
They will ensure that the team consistently maintain the cleanliness of all guest rooms, family suites and public areas to the excellent company standards.
The post holder will manage the workflow of their team by assigning tasks, supporting staff, monitoring results, and reporting to department managers.
The postholder will work with a keen eye for detail to ensure all guest areas meet the Company standards for quality, cleanliness, and consistency, in line with agreed procedures.
The key focus being maintaining excellent customer service and care whilst managing health and safety within the workplace.
As the Head of Housekeeping, you will ensure all Housekeepers are trained against the department procedures and are competent to deliver consistent standards and customer service.
You will support the Company’s mission and objectives through ensuring daily operational compliance to Policies and Procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- that the department is always adequately staffed depending on occupancy and managed efficiently whilst still controlling wage costs, completing weekly rotas as required.
- Monitor arrivals and departures to plan and allocate team resource to ensure guest rooms are prepared ready for customer arrivals.
- Monitoring housekeeping team to ensure they are punctual and adhere to the company’s uniform standards.
Ensure staffing, time sheets, wages, holidays, and absences are managed and kept in line with company HR policies.
- Ensure guest rooms, family suites and public areas are prepared and cleaned as detailed by the procedure and support the Housekeeping Team members as necessary.
- Manage housekeeping department inventory, place, and manage orders of supplies for the department in line with department budgets.
- Conduct random checks to ensure compliance to the standard documented in the procedures.
- Complete any administration duties as deemed necessary.
- Cleaning and housekeeping duties, as and when required, in line with Housekeeper job description.
- Work within departmental budget to ensure maximum profit.
- Manage and support the teams to ensure guests receive an excellent quality of service and consistency of cleanliness.
- Responsible for the stock control of linen, room supplies and cleaning materials.
- Maintain close relationships with suppliers to ensure standards are maintained.
- To effectively manage and motivate the Housekeeping Team ensuring a positive but challenging working environment.
- Coordinating/communicating with the managers/supervisors to ensure the staff are working effectively to ensure the smooth running of their departments.
- Report any maintenance issues and requirements of new equipment
- Responsible for reviewing the performance of the Housekeeping department and looking for ways to continuously improve level of service and customer experience.
- Ensure adequate training of team members, to ensure the health & safety and wellbeing of all employees and customers in line with department policy.
- To ensure all Housekeeping Team members adhere to all compliance regulations and policies such as Data Protection Act, Health & Safety and Safeguarding.
- Recruit new team members, train, and conduct regular appraisals with those that report directly to you, dealing with any performance issues as required.
- To implement, manage and review the Policies and Procedures for Housekeeping department, ensure all team members are trained on and adhere to department Policies and Procedures.
Carry out audits to monitor compliance.
- To complete any in-house training as required and participate in team meetings.
- To be responsible for day-to-day problem solving, liaising with other departments daily
- To act as an ambassador for the Company and ensure that it’s promoted externally on all relevant occasions.
