Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)
Main purpose of job:
This is a challenging position based at the Climate Team at the British Embassy in Brasilia, which will also demand to work together with members of the team based at the British Consulates in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The role of the jobholder is to support the Climate Team to deliver the UK-BR Partnership on Green & Inclusive Growth (GIG) launched in May/2023 and contribute to the COP30 delivery. That includes supporting the management of the GIG Partnership workplan, liaising meetings with Brazilian authorities, and assisting the delivery of missions, events, visits, and COP30. The jobholder is also responsible for managing an intern also based in Brasilia and offering financial and administrative support to the team, including managing different budgets.
We expect to recruit someone who can work in a team, is agile, helpful, proactive, and interested in the subjects of climate, environment and energy. The new Climate Analyst must be available for occasional working travels to be agreed in advance.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
- COP30 – Support with visits, accreditation, and logistics to be led by senior managers.
- UK-BR Partnership on Green & Inclusive Growth – Tracking the delivery of the workplan across the five pillars of intervention, sharing knowledge widely and managing budgets to implement projects and activities.
- Missions, Visits and Events – Support the delivery of missions, ministerial visits and events, working with the Policy Officers and Intern on the workplan, programme, logistics, RSVP etc in all posts in Brazil as required, mainly Brasilia, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro
- Support the Comms Team in validating and delivering contents to social media.
- Stakeholder mapping – Alongside the Intern, work on communications and management pieces that enable the Climate Team and the senior managers to keep updated about the main climate stakeholders in Brazil and the UK.
- Knowledge Management – Coordinate our two interns (based in Brasilia and São Paulo) to keep key documents updated and archived in the folders
- Financial and administrative – Manage funds and budgets to support the team and the wider network to deliver key activities for COP30 and the GIG Partnership, ensuring deliver on time and tracking expenses. Provide administrative support in general, including liaising meetings with Brazilian government officials, assisting the purchase of goods and services in compliance with UK Government guidelines, raising requisitions and paying suppliers in line with the Embassy\’s procurement system.
- To hold a corporate responsibility objective which contributes to the wider corporate agenda of the Brazil Network.
- Manage the Climate Intern based in Brasilia, supporting his professional development and managing his deliveries.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience
Essential skills / experience / qualifications:
- Bachelor\’s degree in a related field (International Relations, Public Administration, Political Science, Economics etc);
- Previous work experience (including internship, voluntary job and academic experience).
- Proven visits and/or project management skills (including through internship, voluntary job and academic experience).
- Proven events organization skills (including through internship, voluntary job and academic experience).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Portuguese.
- Able to deal with multiple tasks and priorities.
- Problem-solving, attention to detail
- Availability for occasional working travels
Language requirements:
Language: English and Portuguese
Level of language required (spoken and written): Advanced English and Fluent Portuguese.
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Desirable:
- Understanding of international climate change policy, including through university or voluntary job.
