The team is creating one of the world’s largest biological datasets from globally sourced environmental and genomic samples, supporting applications across drug discovery, therapeutics, and synthetic biology. Working at the intersection of genomics, machine learning, and large-scale biodiscovery, the company collaborates with leading industry and research partners and is scaling rapidly.

We are looking for a Lab Technician to support sample processing and production-scale laboratory operations. This role sits within a fast-paced startup environment and is ideal for someone looking to gain broad exposure across wet lab workflows, automation systems, and high-throughput genomics operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sample preparation, DNA extraction, and molecular biology workflows
  • Support high-throughput sequencing (HTS) and next-generation sequencing (NGS) sample processing pipelines
  • Assist with day-to-day wet lab operations and laboratory organisation
  • Work with automation systems and laboratory equipment
  • Follow and help improve laboratory SOPs and operational processes
  • Support scaling of laboratory throughput and production workflows
  • Maintain accurate experimental records and sample tracking
  • Collaborate closely with the wider production and scientific teams in a high-growth environment

Requirements

  • Approximately 1 year of laboratory experience in academia or industry
  • Background in molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry, or a related discipline
  • Comfortable working in a practical, hands‑on laboratory role
  • Interest in laboratory automation and operational workflows
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast‑changing startup environment
  • Curious, proactive mindset with a willingness to learn

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in high-throughput laboratory environments
  • Exposure to HTS or NGS workflows
  • Experience with metagenomics, environmental samples, or non-model organisms
  • Familiarity with sequencing platforms such as Illumina, PacBio, or Oxford Nanopore
  • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or laboratory process optimisation principles
  • Interest in AI-driven biology or computational biology
  • Experience from leading genomics or life sciences institutes such as Wellcome Sanger Institute
