Biochemical Scientist
- Reports to: R&D Team Leader
- Term: Full-time / Permanent
- Location: United Kingdom (onsite laboratory-based role)

Role Overview The Applications Scientist will play a pivotal role in research and development, supporting the growth and diversification of the company’s library of surface coating chemistries. This includes contributing to both internal R&D initiatives and external collaborations that extend the organization’s technology platform and intellectual property portfolio. Key Responsibilities - Conduct practical, lab-based research supporting current and emerging R&D programs.
- Contribute to extending the core chemistry platform and associated IP.
- Perform testing and analytical work across diverse materials and substrates (e.g., membrane purification, chromatography, surface-modified separation media).
- Evaluate technical results and propose further surface treatment developments.
- Undertake literature and market research to guide R&D directions.
- Prepare and review technical documentation such as development reports, process transfer documents, and SOPs.
- Participate in project planning for both internal and collaborative membrane separation projects.
- Operate laboratory equipment and, when necessary, train team members in new procedures.
- Collaborate with colleagues to optimize synthesis and development strategies.
 Qualifications & Requirements - Advanced degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry or a related field with 3–5 years’ industry experience.
- Proven experience in polymeric membrane development and membrane separation processes.
- Strong hands-on background in organic synthesis, coating formulation, or surface chemistry.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and practical, solution-oriented mindset.
- Solid understanding of chemical characterization techniques.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and reporting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
 Desirable Skills - Experience with ultrafiltration, microfiltration, and reverse osmosis systems.
