My Client provides a range of high-performance panelised walling systems and modular housing solutions, with a particular focus on the social and affordable housing sector. Across the wider South West, South East and London markets, My Client works with main contractors and other delivery partners, supplying its walling systems for housing projects being delivered principally for local authorities and housing associations.
The Role: They are seeking an experienced and well-connected Head of Sales to lead business development across London, the South East and South West. This is intended to be a hands-on sales and business development role, with the successful candidate personally responsible for developing relationships, creating opportunities and converting projects, as well as helping shape their UK’s wider sales strategy. The existing sales team comprises one Sales Executive, whose activity is focused principally on the South West, together with the UK Managing Director, who also supports sales activity and has recently been developing the South East market. The successful candidate will therefore inherit an existing platform but will be expected to materially increase my clients penetration of the social and affordable housing market across the territory.
Candidate Profile: The key requirement is a candidate with a demonstrable existing network of relevant relationships within the sector. They should have established connections with some or all of:
- local authorities;
- housing associations and registered providers;
- main contractors delivering social and affordable housing schemes;
- other relevant development and delivery partners.
Candidates should have a strong network across the South East and/or South West, ideally including London. We would expect candidates to have a proven track record of originating and converting opportunities within the UK construction or housing sector. Experience selling MMC, offsite construction, panelised systems, timber frame, SIPs, building envelope products or comparable construction solutions would be particularly attractive, although the strength and relevance of the candidate’s network is more important than experience with any specific construction system. The role will require regular travel throughout the territory and candidates should be comfortable operating independently, developing relationships at senior level and managing opportunities through what can be relatively long sales cycles.
Working Arrangements: The role is hybrid, with an expectation of working from a London Office, one day per week, with the remainder of the week principally home-based and travelling to customers, prospects and project meetings.
Package:
- Base salary in the region of £70,000
- Annual on-target bonus of 20% of base salary
- Private medical insurance and wider employee welfare package following successful completion probationary period
- Employer pension contribution in accordance with the applicable statutory auto-enrolment requirements
- Hybrid working
