About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Gardener to join our growing Grounds Maintenance team, delivering high-quality gardening and landscaping services across Waltham Abbey and the wider Epping area. This is a hands-on outdoor role suited to someone who enjoys working in green spaces, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and is committed to providing excellent service. You'll work as part of a supportive team helping to maintain attractive, safe and well-presented environments for our customers and communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general grounds maintenance activities, including:
- Grass cutting
- Hedge trimming
- Pruning
- Weeding
- Shrub and border maintenance
- Undertake horticultural tasks to maintain landscaped areas to a high standard
- Apply pesticides and herbicides safely and in accordance with relevant regulations (where qualified)
- Operate, maintain and care for gardening machinery, tools and vehicles
- Complete work efficiently and to agreed schedules and quality standards
- Follow all health and safety procedures and safe working practices
- Report maintenance issues, defects and potential hazards
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to the team
About You

Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work outdoors throughout the year in varying weather conditions
- Good understanding of health and safety practices
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance, gardening or landscaping
- PA1 and PA6 qualifications (or equivalent)
- Experience using:
- Ride-on mowers
- Strimmers
- Hedge cutters
- Leaf blowers
- Other grounds maintenance equipment
- Experience operating ride-on machinery such as Ransomes Highway 3 mowers
- Soft landscaping experience including planting and garden improvements
- Basic IT skills, including use of mobile devices and email
