Assistant Manager (at the rank of Executive Officer) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Ref.: 536303) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year/three-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal).

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree, with at least 4 years’ work experience, preferably in staffing/finance administration. They should have a strong command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua and Cantonese), along with high levels of communication, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills, as well as a good level of IT knowledge and the ability to work independently. They should also be good team players and fast learners with the ability to handle multi-tasks under tight deadlines. Attention to detail, accuracy in their work, and leadership ability are also expected.

The appointee will provide executive support and coordination for the Department’s staffing and finance administration, and manage a range of related responsibilities. He/She will be responsible for handling staffing and human resources matters, including recruitment, appointments, personnel reviews, and leave administration. The role also involves managing the financial operations, including purchase requisitions, procurement, payroll, staff claims, and resource management. In addition, the appointee will coordinate various reports and provide secretarial support to committees and coordinate academic and delegation visits for the Department when required. He/She will be required to supervise clerical staff to ensure the delivery of quality service, and perform ad-hoc or non-routine tasks as assigned. Occasional work outside normal office hours may be required.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
