A recognised leader and registered Architect who is responsible for envisioning, designing and delivering exceptional projects for clients. Possesses strong communication skills, a flexible attitude, ability to solve problems creatively and ability to foster and manage effective client relationships. Responsible for high-impact decisions. Provides design & technical leadership and acts as an advisor on projects. Endorses the firm’s values by personally influencing client service, innovation and communication. Acts as subject matter expert for technical solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Leads team and other Project Architects in planning work and developing solutions to technical and design detail problems.
- Collaborates with PIC/APM in defining project work plans and developing and managing the production schedule, including effectively defining and meeting deadlines.
- Applies creative thinking to achieve innovative solutions.
- Leads the creation and modification of complex detailed implementation documents to incorporate the design intent, using diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices and advanced techniques.
- Leads development of code analysis and confirms code and zoning requirements for assigned segment of project are met.
- Supervises the preparation of documents by architectural team, including verifying implementation documents conform to QA/QC and HKS standards, best practice and quality expectations.
- Manages the technical resolution and coordination for the project.
- Writes reports or specifications for assigned project.
- Prepares client presentations and presents design concepts and drawings.
- Maintains open communication with client and provides guidance through projects.
- Coordinates with PM, clients, public agencies, consultants and contractors to incorporate engineering systems, respond to requests for information, clarifications and modifications, and obtain approvals, negotiations and adjusting scope of services.
- Communicates with client representatives to verify design requirements and specifications, progress reviews and delivery of final presentation.
- Exercises skills of persuasion and negotiation on critical issues.
- Oversees consultant team work sessions.
- Oversees product research; assists project designers with material and system evaluation to make proper selections.
- Maintains awareness of risk management for potential project issues and involves PIC if needed.
- Participates in team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues and coordination with other disciplines.
- Attends on-site visits, field reviews and project meetings and documents as needed.
- Responsible for preparing and/or reviewing meeting minutes for consultant coordination meetings.
- Manages conflict effectively and encourages a healthy team environment.
- Fosters and maintains a collaborative professional working relationship with the project team, including promoting communication and creating approachability.
- Responsible for delivering a project on defined budget requirements and maintaining accountability to project plan and planned utilisation rate.
- Supports and may lead the business development process by identifying new opportunities, marketing current clients for repeat business and assisting with proposals, budgets and schedules.
- Travel will be required.
Qualifications:
- Accredited Master’s degree in Architecture (RIBA Part III or transferable equivalent).
- ARB registration required.
- RIBA chartership required.
- Typically, 15+ years of experience.
- Sustainable design accreditation preferred.
- Proficiency in architectural software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks and 3D modeling software preferred.
- Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup and InDesign graphic software preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines.
- Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems, accessibility guidelines and QA/QC process.
- Advanced knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into implementation documents.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
- Ability to manage team with diplomatic leadership style which puts value on relationships and collaboration, both internal and external.
- Ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships.
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing.
