The Opportunity

As a Director within our Forensic Accounting & Commercial Damages (FACD) team, you will play a central leadership role in a practice recognised internationally for delivering market‑leading expert services. This is a pivotal growth phase for our London team, offering the chance to work alongside internationally recognised Experts on complex, high‑value valuation and forensic accounting disputes. You will have strategic influence, operational responsibility across multiple commissions, and accountability for quality, delivery, profitability and client satisfaction. You will also lead significant business development activity and develop our people, capabilities and market presence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Engagement Delivery: Independently lead and deliver complex or multiple disputes engagements, demonstrating recognised technical authority. Manage commercial performance, including budgeting, productivity, profitability, cash collection and risk mitigation. Serve as a “go‑to” specialist for colleagues seeking guidance in contentious valuations, forensic accounting or financial damages.
  • Commission & Quality Management: Lead and oversee multiple commissions, allocating responsibilities and ensuring consistent delivery to HKA’s exacting global standards. Manage commercial outcomes, quality control and client satisfaction across all engagements.
  • Expert & Client Advisory: Serve as a recognised expert in your discipline, advising clients and counsel on sophisticated matters. Manage and deepen key client and lawyer relationships, ensuring exceptional client experience and trusted‑adviser status.
  • People Leadership & Development: Provide operational leadership to teams, contribute to recruitment decisions and mentor junior colleagues. Take a leading role in internal training, identifying capability gaps and shaping technical development.
  • Business Development & Market Engagement: Grow your portfolio and drive business development across EMEA and globally, including identifying new opportunities, engaging target firms and positioning HKA in priority markets. Prepare high‑quality proposals and bids. Act as a brand ambassador, networking, presenting, writing articles, participating in industry events and engaging on social media. Contribute to wider HKA initiatives and support key account management development.

Skills & Experience

  • A university degree or relevant postgraduate qualification in accounting, finance, economics or a related quantitative field.
  • Professional qualification: ACA, ACCA, CFA or an advanced economics qualification.
  • 9–12+ years PQE with significant experience in forensic accounting, contentious valuations and dispute‑related matters within a professional services environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, complex and high‑value disputes.
  • Strong technical expertise in valuation methodologies, financial analysis and forensic accounting principles.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including contributing to or drafting expert reports.
  • A proven ability to develop business, grow client relationships and represent the firm externally.
  • Strong leadership credentials with a collaborative and inclusive style.
