We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Pre‑Assessment Healthcare Assistant (Band 3) to join our dynamic Pre‑Assessment Unit. This is a key frontline role supporting patients through their pre‑operative journey, ensuring they receive safe, efficient, and high‑quality care before surgery. You will play an essential part in running our one‑stop clinics, carrying out clinical investigations, coordinating patient tests, and supporting the wider multidisciplinary team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HCA with strong clinical skills who thrives in a fast‑paced, patient‑centred environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Clinical investigations including ECGs, phlebotomy, swabs, and baseline observations.
  • Running one‑stop pre‑assessment clinics autonomously.
  • Coordinating home test kits and guiding patients through required swabs.
  • Managing external test results and uploading to Lifebox/iPMS.
  • Ensuring equipment safety through daily checks and cleaning.
  • Providing patient support with empathy, reassurance, and clear communication.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring confidentiality at all times.
  • Upholding infection prevention standards and hospital policies.
  • Participating in audits and contributing to continuous improvement.
  • Representing the department in relevant hospital committees when required.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experienced in clinical environments, particularly with pre‑operative investigations.
  • Competent in ECGs, phlebotomy, and swabbing.
  • Able to work independently and manage a busy workload.
  • An excellent communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
  • Computer literate (Word, Outlook, EPOA, Lifebox, iPMS).
  • Flexible and willing to work internal rotation including weekends.
  • Motivated, enthusiastic, and committed to delivering outstanding patient care.
