We are seeking a compassionate, motivated Healthcare Assistant (Band 3) to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team at our St Elizabeth Ward. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical skills within a supportive environment specialising in Orthopaedic and General Surgery. Our ward consists of 16 single en‑suite rooms and provides care for a wide range of surgical patients. Procedures include:
- Joint replacements, fracture repairs, spinal and soft‑tissue surgeries
- Breast, ENT, gynaecological, gastrointestinal, urology, cosmetic and trauma‑related surgeries
Located in leafy St John’s Wood on the Jubilee line, minutes from Central London, our independent private Hospital has just been rated the number one in the country for care in the latest Bupa survey. Uniquely, all profits fund our onsite Hospice, St John’s.
What are the Responsibilities of the Healthcare Assistant?
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital part in delivering high‑quality clinical and personal care to patients under the supervision of Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals. Your work will help maintain patient comfort, dignity, and safety at all times. You will contribute to a wide range of clinical activities, including:
- Supporting the planning and delivery of individualised, evidence‑based patient care
- Taking and recording patient observations, including vital signs, ECGs, venepuncture and cannulation (with training and competency evidence)
- Assisting with surgical admissions, theatre preparation, post‑operative care, and patient discharge
- Providing personal care such as bathing, feeding, and supporting activities of daily living
- Maintaining a safe, clean environment and adhering to Infection Prevention and Control standards
- Escorting patients to other departments or hospitals as required
- Completing accurate nursing documentation in line with hospital policies
You will also undertake daily, weekly, and monthly safety checks and support the operational management of the ward when required.
