Elmwood Protection Services (part of the H&J Martin Group within the Lagan Specialist Contracting Group) is now recruiting a Fire Alarm Engineer.

Location: Northern Ireland - Mobile

Role Overview

The successful candidate will complete project works, reactive response and planned maintenance services to a wide variety of public and private sector clients throughout Northern Ireland. Responsible for full installation of fire alarm systems. The engineer will travel to customer locations, install, program and commission systems in compliance with current relevant standards. This requires the engineers to have a deep understanding of the current regulations, allied to strong product knowledge and a practical aptitude to ensure successful project delivery. In addition to new project delivery, the engineer will be required to respond to reactive fault calls and perform planned maintenance services to Fire Alarms.

During these visits, systems will be checked to confirm that they are still fit for purpose regarding how the building may have changed either structurally or with how it is used. To provide 24 hour call-out cover on a rota basis.

What you'll bring

As a Fire Alarm Engineer your main skills and experience will include:

  • Experience in the installation, commissioning, servicing and maintaining of fire detection, and life safety systems to the applicable British and European Standards.
  • Knowledge of all relevant BAFE/NSI codes of practice.
  • Ability to operate PC software packages used for configuration and maintenance purposes.
  • Knowledge of relevant Fire Alarm standards.
  • Knowledge of relevant Security System Standards.
  • Excellent Diagnostic and fault-finding skills.

Key Competencies

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and complete service call-out documentation.
  • Computer literate.
