Role Overview 📝

We are looking for an ambitious, communicative and versatile Senior Analytics Engineer to drive business outcomes through smart and impactful use of data. Our ideal future colleague cares deeply about creating business impact, translating business context and problem statements into the right data solutions, and developing an analytics platform that serves a scaling data team.

We believe in opinionated analytics and creating an edge through intelligent use of tech and data in an industry that has been stuck in its ways for too long – for better or worse. That’s why we empower our growing team of engineers by embedding them in product‑centered, cross‑functional squads for meaningful business context and encourage taking the initiative for impactful projects from day one. We hone our craft and grow our skills as data professionals through functional reporting lines and regular catch‑ups and knowledge sharing sessions across the data organisation.

Your day‑to‑day activities will range from ideating novel solutions to business problems to developing and maintaining meaningful metrics and data models in a sustainable fashion. Along the way you will talk to data producers for data context and roll out your solutions to business users to deliver maximum impact. Wherever you see an opportunity, you will contribute to developing and growing our analytics platform through developing the right tooling, setting standards and defining best practices. Over time you will also support with line management, mentoring and supporting the growth of fellow team members in your area of expertise.

Ways you might move the needle at HIVED:

  • Fostering a data‑driven culture and tight collaboration with squad mates across Tech, Product and Data.
  • Developing and refining meaningful operational metrics that capture and improve real‑world processes across our operation (think parcel collection, sortation, delivery, driver workflows on the road, driver performance and engagement and much more).
  • Supporting the growth of fellow teammates with mentorship and line management.
  • Advancing data modelling practices and our analytics platform across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Take initiative and translate business context and problem statements into impactful data solutions.
  • Develop meaningful data pipelines and establish data modelling best practices.
  • Create powerful data products and dashboards that drive business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with business users, excite them with your solutions and advance data adoption and literacy in the organisation.
  • Over time: line management and mentoring of fellow Analytics Engineers (one or two, not many reports).
  • Collaborate with fellow Data team members to grow and improve the analytics platform.

Your Profile

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar analytics or data engineer, data science, analyst or business intelligence role.
  • Previous mentoring or line management experience.

  • Preferably some experience working with Python (pandas/Polars) in a data context.
