Role Overview 📝 We’re looking for a skilled Senior Backend Engineer passionate about creating outstanding user experiences on top of HIVED’s emission-free parcel delivery network. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be an integral part of the team, responsible for the full software development lifecycle—from discovery and design to deployment and monitoring. You will have a tangible impact on growing HIVED's backend in a rapid yet sustainable fashion.
Your work will play a key role in delivering best-in-class customer experiences and developing HIVED's competitive advantage through technology.
What you’ll be doing 🚀
- Design, implement, and maintain a scalable backend architecture to power HIVED’s customer-facing products and tools.
- Plan and lead projects along with other software engineers, product managers and UX designers.
- Maintain and optimise existing infrastructure, including third-party integrations that enhance the customer experience.
- Shape the engineering culture at HIVED by scaling processes, tools, and standards, while sharing knowledge with junior team members.
- Participate in the on-call rota, ensuring system reliability.
What we’re looking for 🔎
- Proven experience as a Backend Engineer or similar role, with 5+ years of experience.
- Skilled at writing clean, performant and testable code in typed languages.
- Experience in architecting, designing, and building distributed systems.
- Familiarity with a range of technologies, databases and cloud stacks (AWS) and previous experience with Infrastructure as Code.
- Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and customer-facing stakeholders.
