Requirements

  • 2-3 years of post-qualified experience within a finance function
  • Fully qualified (ACCA, ACA or CIMA)
  • Experience gained within a start-up environment or relevant industry setting would be advantageous
  • Proficiency in financial software including Xero and MS Excel/Google Sheets
  • Experience with other large-scale ERPs would be beneficial
  • Proficiency in use of leading AI tools (especially Claude)
  • Familiarity with no-code solutions (e.g. Make, Zapier) beneficial; familiarity with data visualisation & analytics tooling (e.g. PowerBI) beneficial
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
  • Comfortable with cross-functional working/relationship management and ability to influence key stakeholders

What the job involves

  • This is a high-impact finance role sitting at the intersection of operations, commercial, and data.
  • You will own the end-to-end reporting and analysis of HIVED's unit economics — what we call CM2 (Gross Profit) — covering parcel delivery, collection, and sortation costs across our growing network.
  • You will be a trusted business partner to our Commercial and Operations teams, helping them make better, faster decisions with clear financial insight.
  • This is not a back-office role: you'll be embedded in the business, building relationships with operational leads, challenging assumptions, and shaping how HIVED thinks about profitability as we scale.
  • Full ownership of analysis and reporting of HIVED’s core parcel delivery, collection & sortation costs (CM2) including understanding the drivers within the cost bar and keeping on top of changes across the business that will have meaningful impact.
  • A Business Partner for Commercial & Operations teams, building strong relationships with specialists & mid-level leadership in these functions.
  • Work with the business to prepare business cases for new initiatives, and track performance against these business cases.
  • Drive reporting of unit economics/contribution margin - including the full end-to-end reporting of financials by working with Data & Operations to enable daily & weekly reporting, and performing month-end close processes.
  • Own the budgeting and monthly forecasting process around unit economics including understanding how volume and parcel/shipper mix impacts our cost.
  • Clearly lay out expectations of costs based on discussions with budget holders, business plans, and cost assumptions in a way that can be easily reviewed, reported and managed.
  • Report budget variance on unit costs to the relevant budget holders, and the executive, including explanations on the drivers of the variance and how to make improvements going forward.
  • Financial Modelling to support better decision-making for our Commercial and Operations teams, such as customer profitability, depot profitability and density effects.
  • Be an AI & Automation champion in the Finance team, building tools to drive efficiencies & insights.
  • Implement and/or maintain strong internal controls; identify opportunities to improve financial processes and systems, driving efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
