Role Overview

As a Transport Supervisor at HIVED’s Hayes depot, you are a key operational leader supporting the Transport Manager in delivering safe, efficient, and compliant transport operations. Reporting to the Head of Transport, you will help ensure that our fleet of eHGVs remains roadworthy, drivers perform at their best, and daily schedules are executed accurately. This role combines administrative discipline with hands-on, on-the-ground leadership.

Complete weekly fleet damage audits and gate checks, reporting findings and assisting with corrective actions. Support upkeep of the Convey compliance dashboard, ensuring vehicle defects and approvals are reviewed and actioned promptly. Ensure VOR (Vehicle Off Road) vehicles are booked in for maintenance or repair quickly to minimise downtime.
  • Driver & Performance Management - Line-manage drivers, providing coaching, guidance, and performance feedback. Schedule drivers, manage absences, and coordinate agency cover to meet operational demand. Work with the Transport Manager to arrange driver training, Samsara debriefs, infringement debriefs, and accident/incident investigations.
  • Fleet & Maintenance Coordination - Schedule and track Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs) to maintain fleet availability and roadworthiness, ensuring tractor PMIs every 8 weeks and trailer PMIs every 12 weeks maximum. Monitor technical compliance of vehicles and report issues to the Transport Manager.
  • Planning & Resource Management - Validate transport plans to ensure staffing aligns with operational requirements. Maintain and develop a robust driver recruitment pipeline to ensure sufficient coverage for all shifts. Collaborate with planning where required, to implement operational changes and resolve scheduling conflicts. Manage the end-to-end process for hiring new drivers to maintain a resilient labour pool.

Requirements

  • Must hold a valid Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
  • Strong awareness of O-Licence compliance stipulations and DVSA standards.
  • Minimum 2 years in transport, logistics, or operational supervision; experience managing drivers preferred.
