Based in London, we are a climate and logistics start-up building the first sustainable parcel delivery network at scale, powered by a 100% electric fleet.
In an ever-growing industry where unreliable service has long been the norm, HIVED has been built from the ground-up to meet the demands of modern consumers and disrupt parcel delivery.
A tech company at heart, our talent and technology is laser-focused on delivering the best possible delivery experience for end-customers and meeting the needs of our retail partners.
From our drivers to our data engineers, we are constantly working to improve this customer experience that makes us deliver better.
Already trusted by leading international brands such as John Lewis, Nespresso, Uniqlo, H&M brands and more, we are solidifying our position as the leaders in Europe to tackle this growing market.
Our tight-knit team is made up of ex-Revolut, Bain, Hello Fresh, ASOS, Apple and Google employees, and we are backed by some of Europe’s leading investors and VCs in climate-tech, logistics and mobility including Planet A Ventures, Maersk Growth, Pale Blue Dot VC, Eka Ventures, Nordic Ninja VC and the British government.
We’re passionate about driving innovation and redefining the future of delivery.
Role Overview
We're looking for a Junior Backend Engineer to help build the platform behind HIVED's 100% electric parcel delivery network.
You’ll join our
Customer Experience (CX) Squad : a cross-functional team of engineers, product managers and designers working to make parcel delivery better for everyone involved.
From the senders who trust us with their parcels to the recipients waiting for them.
At HIVED, we’re building a modern, scalable platform for a delivery network that is cleaner, smarter and more customer-centric from the ground up.
This role is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who wants to learn quickly, ship meaningful work, and see their code power real-world experiences every day.
- What you’ll be doing
- Build and ship features for our recipient-facing products, like our live tracking page and real-time delivery updates.
Used by thousands of customers daily, they keep recipients informed and in control of their deliveries.
- Develop our integrations, that enables senders from small shops to large enterprises to work with HIVED. Ensuring rock-solid reliability to power day-to-day operations.
- Take tasks from idea to production: writing the code and tests, and helping monitor what you’ve shipped
- Participate in code reviews as both author and reviewer, and proactively identify improvements within the squad’s scope.
- Work closely with Product, UX stakeholders, using quantitative and qualitative signals to guide decisions, measure impact, and share learnings with the Squad.
- What we’re looking for
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or STEM field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Proficiency in writing clean, performant, and testable code in a typed language (we use Go)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Highly motivated and hungry to learn. You pick up new technologies quickly and enjoy getting better at your craft.
- A bias toward shipping: you’d rather get something working and improve it than spending weeks on perfection
- You care about user experience and customer delight, and you want the things you build to feel genuinely good to use.
- Nice-to-have
- Experience with building distributed systems and working with cloud platforms (we use AWS)
- Familiarity with databases, cloud stacks, and Infrastructure as Code.
- A side project, open-source contribution, or piece of work you’re proud of
- Technologies we use
- Golang, Typescipt
- Git Hub, Grafana
- Postgres, Dynamo DB
- AWS (Lambda, SQS, CDK)
- React, Next. js
- Claude Code
- Our interviewing process
- Intro call with the hiring manager
- Live coding challenge solving a problem
- A take home case study, followed by a design discussion
- On-site interview at our Shoreditch HQ (role and culture)
Our Values
- We Are Kind - Kind to the planet, our team and our partners.

- We Are Tenacious - We fight every day to keep the customer promise, for every parcel entrusted to us.
No matter how hard it gets or whatever stands in our way, we are relentless in our pursuit of excellence.
- We Are Curious - We never settle, constantly challenge convention and are never afraid to ask why.
We believe there is always more to learn, always a better way, and that we’re always only just getting started.
We never fight the urge to be inquisitive, to understand the world around us and to explore where others might not.
- We Are Resourceful - Our planet’s resources are scarce and our future depends on our ability to use them wisely.
Waste is the enemy.
We strive to do more with less, be more efficient and make the most of what we have.
