Rt Hon Kemi Badenoch MP is looking to recruit a full time Constituency Support Officer to join her team, predominantly from Westminster, with travel to the constituency as required. This is a junior level Parliamentary position, working for Kemi in her role as MP for North West Essex, with excellent support for career development from an established and experienced team.
The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, willingness to roll up their sleeves and support the team, and be confident in acting on their own initiative and working independently. Kemi is looking for a team member who is passionate about the difference MPs can make to the lives of their constituents and communities; an understanding of current affairs and sympathy with the aims and values of the Conservative Party are essential.
The role will include:
- Drafting correspondence, including on policy and campaign issues
- Assisting with casework as needed
- Assisting Kemi with constituency surgeries, visits and meetings
- Providing professional support and ensuring all follow-up actions are completed
Requirements:
- A genuine interest in helping constituents
- Outstanding written and verbal skills, with keen attention to detail, and an ability to communicate complex policy clearly
- Ability to complete work quickly, to a high standard, often under pressure
- An interest in current affairs and sympathy with the aims and values of the Conservative Party
- The ability to work with sensitivity, discretion and with strict adherence to data protection legislation
Duties will include, but not limited to:
- Draft responses to constituents on policy and campaign matters
- Dealing with standard queries from members of the public and assist with casework as required
- Provide support to the MP with surgeries, constituency visits and meetings
- Assist with research and projects, providing briefings as required
- Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially and accurately in accordance with data protection legislation
- Log all cases, monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
Security vetting: Upon appointment, you will be required to apply for security clearance through the Security Vetting and Pass Office. Applicants must have been resident in the United Kingdom for a minimum of three out of the last five years. Applications from candidates who do not meet this requirement cannot be considered, in accordance with Parliament's security and vetting policy.
Salary: Inline with IPSA payscales; expected to start at £28,000

Start Date: The candidate will ideally be in place summer recess, depending on security clearance.
