About HiTZ Cricket

HiTZ Cricket is revolutionising the way the world trains and plays. As the creator of the world’s first operator-less, AI-powered indoor cricket training experience, we use state-of-the-art BatFast technology to give cricketers of all ages and abilities the chance to practice anytime, without needing a bowler. With multiple successful sites across the UK, a thriving digital community, and our recent international expansion into Australia, we are scaling rapidly. We are looking for an experienced, strategic, and commercially minded Group Finance Director to help steer our financial growth during this exciting phase.

The Role

As our part-time Group Finance Director (0.8 FTE), you will be the financial anchor of the executive team. You will take ownership of the group’s financial strategy, capital management, and operational finance across both our UK and international entities. Because we are a fast-moving, high-growth business, this role requires a balance of high-level strategic foresight (expansion modeling, financial strategy, and board reporting) and hands-on operational leadership (optimising site-level P&Ls and streamlining financial processes). As the company scales, there is significant scope for this position to evolve into a full-time role for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Financial Leadership & Expansion
    • Lead the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) for the Group, shaping the 3–5 year strategic roadmap.
    • Support the CEO and Board by providing robust financial data, models, and insights to assist with external stakeholder and venue partner relationships.
    • Create detailed financial models to evaluate new site acquisitions, franchise opportunities, and international expansion rollout plans.
  • Commercial Business Partnering
    • Analyse and optimise revenue streams, including peak/off-peak pricing models, subscription memberships, and B2B products.
    • Work closely with the operations and marketing teams to drive venue profitability, manage customer acquisition costs (CAC), and maximise lifetime value (LTV).
    • Provide actionable commercial insights to help improve margins across tech deployment, equipment supply chains, and venue fit-outs.
  • Financial Control, Reporting & Compliance
    • Oversee the preparation of accurate, timely monthly management accounts and board packs for both the UK and Australian operations.
    • Manage group cash flow forecasting rigorously to ensure optimal liquidity during rapid multi-site rollouts.
    • Ensure full statutory compliance, managing the annual audit process and tax planning.
    • Implement and scale modern, automated financial systems that integrate smoothly with our booking and app platforms.
  • Team Leadership & Scaling
    • Work effectively alongside our current bookkeepers, who will provide your initial day-to-day transactional support.
    • Take ownership of defining the future structure of the finance department, gradually hiring and developing a high-performing internal team as the business grows.

About You

  • Qualified Professional: Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with substantial post-qualification experience.
  • Industry Experience: Previous experience in a high-growth startup/scale-up is essential. Experience in multi-site leisure, sports, fitness, or subscription-based businesses is highly desirable.
  • International Exposure: Familiarity with managing group consolidations and international finances (particularly UK/Australia) is a strong plus.
  • Commercial Acumen: You don’t just look at the numbers; you understand the business levers behind them and can translate financial data into operational strategy.
  • Builder Mentality: You are comfortable working lean initially (supported by bookkeepers) but have the vision and leadership skills to build out a full finance function.
  • Adaptable & Hands-On: You thrive in a dynamic environment where you can comfortably switch from presenting to the Board to rolling up your sleeves to fix a process bottleneck.

What We Offer

  • Salary & Compensation: £64,000 - £72,000 actual salary for 4 days a week (based on a full-time equivalent of £80,000 - £90,000), plus a 10% company bonus and option shares.
  • Pension: A comprehensive company pension scheme.
  • Holiday Allowance: 25 days annual leave (pro-rated to 0.8 FTE), plus an exclusive 5 extra days dedicated entirely to spending time at the cricket.
  • Health & Wellbeing: A dedicated allowance for self-discovery, health, and wellbeing benefits.
  • Flexibility: A hybrid working model combining remote work with in-person collaboration at our office in Spaces, Guildford.
  • Impact & Growth: A seat at the leadership table of an innovative sports-tech brand, with a clear pathway for the role and team to grow into a full-time capacity.
  • Perks: Complimentary use of HiTZ Cricket lanes for you and your family.
