Main Responsibilities
- Organize, oversee and manage vehicle dispatch; ensure efficient coordinating and loading of vehicles, prioritizing routes and managing workload to guarantee timely deliveries.
- Team Leadership and Management: provide day to day leadership of drivers and the night dispatch team operating out of the Irlam depot. This includes managing staff rotas, holidays, team training and development, building team cohesion, and handling disciplinary actions when necessary to maintain high operational standards.
- Incident Management and Communication: act as the point of contact for overnight incidents, vehicle breakdowns or operational challenges. Communicate effectively with internal departments to ensure swift resolution and minimize disruptions.
- Daily Reporting: provide regular updates and comprehensive reports to the Transport Manager to maintain transparency and address operational issues, ensuring continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Security Oversight: take responsibility for the security and integrity of the dispatch bays, rear yard and all fleet vehicles, safeguarding personnel and assets.
- Collaboration with the Order Makeup Department: work with the Order Makeup team to enhance and streamline vehicle dispatch times with the goal of continuous process improvement.
Hours
5 Nights per week, Sunday-Thursday, 20:00 to 06:00. Additional flexibility may be required to meet the demands of the business.
