We are looking for a confident, technically minded individual to join our team as a Rooflight Technical Sales Advisor. This is an office-based role centred around handling incoming enquiries from architects, contractors, builders, and homeowners who are specifying or purchasing rooflights.

You will be the first point of contact for customers seeking guidance on our rooflight range. You will combine strong product knowledge with a natural ability to understand customer requirements and convert enquiries into orders — not through high-pressure selling, but through building trust, offering expert advice, and providing an outstanding experience on every call. This role is equally about technical understanding and people skills. You will become a genuine expert in rooflight specification, glazing systems, and installation requirements, and use that knowledge to help customers make confident purchasing decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle all incoming telephone and email enquiries in a professional, helpful, and knowledgeable manner.
  • Guide customers through product selection based on their project requirements, roof type, and budget.
  • Prepare accurate quotations and follow up to convert enquiries into confirmed orders.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell complementary products and accessories where genuinely beneficial to the customer.
  • Achieve individual and team sales targets through quality of service rather than volume pressure.
  • Maintain a strong conversion rate from enquiry to order by building rapport and customer confidence.
  • Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of the full rooflight range, including sizes, glazing specifications, U-values, and kerb types.
  • Advise customers on correct product selection for their specific application, including building regulation compliance.
  • Support customers with technical queries relating to installation, glazing, flashing, and associated products.
  • Liaise with the technical team on complex or non-standard enquiries.
  • Keep up to date with product developments, new launches, and changes to building regulations affecting rooflights.
  • Process orders accurately and promptly using the company order management system.
  • Coordinate with the production and logistics teams to confirm lead times and delivery schedules.
  • Manage customer accounts, keeping records of interactions, quotations, and order history up to date.
  • Handle order amendments, queries, and after-sales support professionally.
  • Raise any product or delivery issues proactively, keeping customers informed at every stage.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
  • Excellent telephone manner — warm, clear, and confident with the ability to build instant rapport.
  • Strong sales ability with a consultative, customer-first approach.
  • High attention to detail, particularly when processing orders and preparing quotations.
  • Ability to quickly learn and retain technical product information.
  • Good written communication skills for handling email enquiries and quotations.
  • Organised and self-motivated, able to manage a busy workload and prioritise effectively.
  • Competent with standard office software (email, Word, Excel, CRM systems).
Desirable
  • Previous experience in a technical sales, construction products, or building materials environment.
  • Familiarity with rooflights, glazing, or flat roof construction.
  • Experience working with architects, contractors, or specifiers.
  • Knowledge of UK building regulations relating to daylight and thermal performance.
What We Offer
  • A varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.
  • Full product training and ongoing technical development.
  • A supportive, friendly team environment.
  • Competitive basic salary with built-in commission structure.
  • Opportunities for progression within the business.
  • 20 days holiday, plus bank holidays.
  • Free on-site parking.

You do not need to come from a roof light background — we will train you. What matters most is that you are genuinely good with people, enjoy problem-solving, take pride in giving excellent advice, and have the drive to see enquiries through to a sale. You will be someone who listens carefully, explains things clearly, and leaves every customer feeling confident they have spoken to an expert.

This job description is intended as a guide and is not exhaustive. Responsibilities may evolve in line with business needs.
