HW Finance are delighted to be working in Retained Partnership with a high growth SME who recently received external investment.

This rapidly expanding organisation are looking for a strategic and commercially minded Head of Finance to work directly for the MD.

The role is not just about production of the numbers, but working with the MD & wider management team to help implement their ambitious growth plans over the next 3-5 years.

The Role

The successful candidate will take overall responsibility for the finance function, providing insightful financial leadership and shaping the organisation’s long-term direction. This role offers significant board exposure and requires someone confident in both hands-on financial management and strategic contribution.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely reporting across all entities.
  • Building and refining budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes.
  • Enhancing financial systems and controls to support scalability and efficiency.
  • Acting as a trusted adviser to senior leadership, providing analysis and guidance to support investment and commercial decisions.
  • Leading the annual planning cycle and delivering forward-looking financial modelling.
  • Playing a central role in evaluating and delivering growth opportunities, including acquisitions and partnerships.
  • Maintaining compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements, while supporting audits and governance reviews.

The candidate

We are seeking a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) who can demonstrate:

  • A track record of senior finance leadership, ideally in a growing, multi-entity or project-led business.
  • Strong commercial acumen alongside technical accounting expertise.
  • Proven exposure to M&A, including due diligence and integration.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, with the ability to influence at board level.
