HWF is supporting a rapidly growing private equity-backed business in Grimsby as they enter their next phase of scale, investment and operational transformation. With an impressive senior leadership team and a fast-paced environment, they are seeking an experienced Interim Head of Finance to lead the finance function and strengthen reporting, governance and controls.
The Role:
As Interim Head of Finance, you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance operation, ensuring robust, timely and accurate reporting while driving improvements in control, governance and financial discipline across the business. You will lead and develop a small but capable finance team and be a key partner to the Finance Director and wider SLT.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the finance team, ensuring clarity, accountability and high performance.
- Own all management and financial reporting, delivering accurate monthly results, variance analysis and commentary.
- Strengthen governance, controls and compliance across the finance function and wider business.
- Oversee balance sheet integrity, cashflow reporting and forecasting.
- Improve financial processes, month-end timelines and reporting quality.
- Support the Finance Director with board reporting, investor information packs and PE stakeholder requirements.
- Drive accountability around financial controls, including:
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Purchase-to-pay processes
- Company credit cards
- Supply payment controls
- Expense and PO workflows
- Aged debtor oversight
- Pension and payroll compliance
About You:
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with strong post-qualified experience.
- Proven background in Head of Finance/Financial Controller roles, ideally within PE-backed or fast-paced environments.
- Exceptional financial reporting, technical accounting and control/governance capability.
- Demonstrable experience leading and developing teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and ability to partner with operations, SLT and PE investors.
- Hands-on, pragmatic and able to deliver quickly in an evolving environment.
- Senior-level exposure in a PE-backed environment.
- Ability to shape the finance function and leave a lasting legacy across reporting, controls and team capability.
