b Overview /b p In this role you drive the design, development and delivery of scalable rail solutions for bids and projects, ensuring safety, performance and alignment with customer needs. You lead cross-functional collaboration, mentor the team and contribute to architectural decisions within Hitachi Rail’s signalling and rail solutions portfolio. This position offers a chance to influence rail systems from concept to production, across UK projects, with a strong emphasis on safety, governance and stakeholder engagement. You will work closely with the Portfolio Engineering Delivery Manager and other functions to shape winning solutions. /p b Pay / Benefits /b ul li flexible working patterns /li li home working options /li li training and development /li li mentoring and coaching /li li internal career opportunities /li li inclusive workplace /li /ul b Responsibilities /b ul li Lead design and development of scalable rail system solutions for tram and light rail markets /li li Act as junior EDM and Work Package Manager, tracking progress, forecasting work and managing change/risk /li li Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and define project scope /li li Provide technical input to architecture, perform trade-off studies and recommend tools/technology /li li Develop and document technical elements of business cases for variations and opportunities /li li Undertake Designer role per CDM regulations focusing on design risks and safety /li li Troubleshoot root causes and implement effective fixes /li li Provide independent peer reviews of system designs /li li Understand and apply project delivery processes and Engineering Management Plans /li /ul b Key requirements /b ul li Extensive experience in systems development and understanding of systems engineering principles /li li Understanding of railway operations and related standards/processes /li li Proven track record designing and developing complex systems from concept to production /li li Experience with train or tram systems integration would be advantageous /li li Familiarity with governance/assurance requirements from Network Rail and/or TfL is preferable /li li Solid grasp of systems architecture, design patterns and rail-specific domains /li li Ability to use design tools for complex designs /li li Ability to define engineering delivery methodologies and manage configuration control /li li Strong communication, stakeholder management and leadership abilities /li li Ability to mentor and coach a diverse team /li /ul ul li Mentoring and coaching /li li Excellent communication at all levels /li li Collaborative teamwork /li li Systems development /li li Systems engineering principles /li li Architectural design and trade-off studies /li /ul
