Overview
In this role you will act as a trusted finance partner for large-scale contracts, delivering robust financial control, insightful reporting and commercial challenge. You will own project-level financials, support strategic decisions, and drive improvements in project finance processes. You will collaborate with Project Managers and senior stakeholders to influence business performance and governance. This is a senior, growth-oriented position with potential line management opportunities in a global engineering environment.

Responsibilities
- Partner with Project Managers and operational stakeholders to provide financial leadership across large-scale contracts
- Own financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting and month-end activities for assigned projects
- Apply IFRS 15 revenue recognition principles accurately across project activities
- Deliver timely management reporting and financial insights to support decision-making
- Challenge assumptions, costs and forecasts to improve financial performance
- Support contract reviews, governance meetings and leadership discussions
- Maintain and enhance financial models, tools and processes for efficiency
- Ensure projects comply with accounting policies, controls and governance
- Monitor cash flow and invoicing to maximise commercial outcomes
- Support bids, variations and new opportunities with robust financial guidance
- Build relationships with customers and external stakeholders as a credible finance representative
- Mentor junior finance colleagues and potentially undertake line management
Key requirements
- Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
- Significant project accounting experience within large, complex or long-term contracts
- Strong knowledge of IFRS 15
- Experience partnering with Project Managers and senior stakeholders
- Excellent financial planning, forecasting and management reporting skills
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to influence decision-making
- Customer-facing experience and credibility with stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills with a continuous improvement mindset
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling capabilities
- Previous people management experience or willingness to lead
- Excellent communication skills to translate financial data into business insights
- Experience in engineering, infrastructure, transport, rail, defence, manufacturing or other project-led environments (advantageous)
