Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity to join our Grid Automation team. We are looking for a Senior Project Manager with a proven track record in leading customer projects. Supporting and strengthening our team in Hitachi Energy UK, ideally someone with High & Medium voltage substations, you will be responsible for managing the entire project, which will include representing Hitachi Energy's commercial and contractual interests and managing all stakeholders (internal & external).

Our Project Management team in Hitachi Energy UK is expanding. This role in the area of Grid Automation (high & Medium voltage substations Protection and control (RTU, SCADA, DCS)) is ideally suited for someone who has a proven track record in the execution of end user facing projects in the Transmission and distribution market with customers including National Grid, SSE, Scottish Power, as well as EPCs and DNOs.

Skilled at planning and forecasting activities using tools such as SAP and Primavera P6 / Microsoft Projects. You will be responsible for planning and managing the project from inception through to the end of the warranty. This will include representing Hitachi Energy's commercial and contractual interests and managing negotiations in line with FIDIC and NEC 4.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Responsible for implementing projects within the area of Substation Automation.
  • Manage the assigned projects from the initial handover from Sales to the successful completion of all on-site work.
  • Your tasks will include coordinating an international project team and overseeing the efficient use of allocated resources.
  • As the key point of contact, you will embrace an open and proactive approach to communication in your efforts to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Drawing on your business expertise, you will manage the customer contract and take full responsibility for all commercial and contractual aspects of the project.

Background:

  • Experience delivering solutions in a Power Transmission projects environment.
  • Over 5 years project management experience in a systems business.
  • Engineering background in Electrical and Control systems / Computer networks.
  • Based in UK Mainland - willing to be either in Glasgow 3 days a week.
  • HNC / HND / Degree / MSC.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel to clients and partners within the UK (circa 10% of time) and to factory units within Europe as required.
  • Chartered Engineer or Professional certified Project Manager (PMI PMP).
  • Lean qualification (desirable).
  • Clean UK driving license.
