As a Data Solutions Architect you'll work closely with key stakeholders to map out their data/insights requirements and develop roadmaps and design architecture which you'll communicate effectively to the project teams, implementation teams and end-users - leading top quality solutions design and delivery.

Requirements

  • Strong experience as a Cloud data architect
  • Skilled in one or more of the following architectural frameworks (TOGAF, ZACHMAN, FEAF)
  • Cloud Experience: AWS or GCP preferred, particularly around migrations and cloud architecture
  • Good technical knowledge and understanding of big data frameworks like Hadoop, Cloudera etc.
  • Deep technical knowledge of database development, design and migration
  • Experience of deployment in cloud using Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Automation or Scripting experience using languages such as python & bash etc.
  • ETL and workflow management knowledge
  • Experience of Agile methodologies
  • Experience in the Financial Services Sector
  • Data Engineering or Data Science experience

Job responsibilities

  • Interface with client project sponsors to gather, assess and interpret client needs and requirements.
  • Define architecture vision, roadmaps and strategy while engaging relevant stakeholders to execute.
  • Work across other architectural domains including business architecture, technical architecture and application architecture.
  • Able to advise on complex migrations and define opportunities and risks as well as transition phases to achieve target states successfully.
  • Familiar with common architectural patterns and able to define and customise them for different use cases.
  • Develop data models and Data Lake designs around stated use cases to capture KPIs and data transformations.
  • Identify relevant AWS services - on Amazon EMR, Redshift, Athena, Glue, Lambda, to design an architecture that can support client workloads/use-cases; evaluate pros/cons among the identified options to arrive at a recommended solution optimal for the client's needs.
  • Work closely with the client and broader delivery team to implement in Agile fashion the architecture and chosen AWS services using AWS Best Practices and principles from the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
  • Assess, document and translate goals, objectives, problem statements, etc. to offshore/onshore management teams.
  • Advise on database performance, altering the ETL process, providing SQL transformations, discussing API integration, and deriving business and technical KPIs.
  • Guide the transition of solutions into the hands of the client, providing documentation to operate and maintain the solution.
  • Design data pipelines to support machine-learning solutions.

About you (ideally):

  • Strong hands-on approach - architect, code and facilitate full-scale development
  • Able to explain pro/cons of various AWS options, to justify why the recommended solution(s) and architecture was chosen as an optimal one for the job
  • Able to optimize performance and monitoring of hybrid on-premise and cloud data solutions
  • Working with a variety of enterprise level organisations to understand and analyse existing on-prem environments such as Oracle, Teradata & Hadoop etc., and be able to design and plan migrations to AWS or GCP
  • Deep understanding of high and low level designs and architecture solutions
  • Developing database scripts to migrate from current to cloud based databases
  • Developing optimization plan and automated solutions for post migration environments
  • Certified in AWS Pro Solutions Architect /Snowflake SnowPro, and/or GCP Pro Cert.
