Overview
In this role you will lead the control room team to ensure fleet maintenance, servicing and cleanliness meet contractual standards, keeping trains on track and passengers moving. You’ll oversee operations at the Great Western Integrated Control Centre, coordinating technicians and inspectors, and planning maintenance, exams and depot work. The position combines leadership with hands-on rail operations, requiring strong technical knowledge and a proactive, safety‑driven mindset. This is a shift-based, dynamic environment with real impact on service reliability and customer experience.

Responsibilities
- Oversee control room operations on a shift basis and manage support teams
- Manage fleet planning and operational interfaces at the control centre
- Coordinate deployment of technicians and inspectors
- Line management of Maintenance Controllers and Inspectors
- Plan maintenance, servicing and cleaning for class 800 fleets to meet contractual KPIs
- Utilise SAP Maintenance Management Systems for planning
- Monitor fleet status via remote diagnostics and plan depot visits
- Record and rectify damage, vandalism, and CBM requirements
- Develop team capabilities and establish stakeholder relationships
- Deputise for Fleet Delivery Manager or Maintenance Controller as required
- Adhere to and manage train performance regimes and KPI reporting
- Ensure documentation of control room activities and processes
- Learn new skills per Hitachi requirements
- Liaise with internal and external personnel as required
- Engage in other duties as assigned by line manager
- Address localised requirements in addition to core duties
Key requirements

- Management training qualifications or equivalent experience
