The opportunity
Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity to join the team as Tender Manager where you'll be reporting to the UK Operating Unit Manager for Grid Integration and be part of the Senior Management Team. As the Tender Manager you will manage the tendering team responsible for winning AC substations and Power Quality works within the UK. Your success will depend heavily on your ability to network and build relationships with people from all parts of the organization, UK and overseas.
How you’ll make an impact
- Responsible for leading a team that administrates, consults and negotiates Engineered Package contracts with external and internal customers.
- Develop pre-sales contract strategies and work closely with marketing, sales, and business management teams to structure proposals/contracts/bid documents.
- Review team size on a quarterly basis, ensuring team skills and training are correct for the upcoming works.
- Negotiate contracts that are consistent with business objectives.
- Annual budgeting with regular forecasting, provide reporting on the team's performance against budget and ensure an appropriate pipeline is maintained.
- Work with your tendering team to manage the preparation of all technical, financial, cash flow and operational delivery aspects of the bid/estimate/quotation, indicating prices and trading conditions. Review bids before submission and ensure appropriate governance has been followed.
- Identify potential risks and opportunities in contract agreements across customers/channels.
- Work with other function managers including Supply Chain, Operations, Commissioning and Engineering to ensure suitable support is provided to tenders.
Background
- Proven experience focused on new business generation with a strong track record of winning new customers is essential.
- Proven track record as a manager building and developing high performance teams.
- High Voltage (HV) and (400kV–132kV) and MV (66kV-11kV) knowledge and Industrial substation experience preferred.
- Understanding of Construction contracts (NEC, FIDIC, etc).
- Sound communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Comfortable presenting to large teams including Senior Management.
- Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
- Ability to work under pressure and work on your own initiative.
- Good PC skills.
