Job Description
Here at Hitachi Rail, we have a fantastic opportunity to join the team as a Business Intelligence Project Manager who will join our Digital & AI workstream, part of the global digital transformation team. As the Business Intelligence Project Manager, you will be responsible for end-to-end planning and project control of business intelligence projects globally within our rail business.
In addition, you will proactively engage with internal customers to ensure complete understanding of requirements, support effective user interaction, and champion the use of business intelligence across our rail business. Please note this is a 12-month fixed-term contract.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting Head of Business Intelligence to create, update and deliver Business Intelligence projects and objectives
- Proactive engagement with internal customers to ensure complete understanding of requirements, support effective user interaction and champion the use of business intelligence across UK rail business
- Responding to planned and ad-hoc development and information requests
- Identifying and pursuing project growth and development opportunities for the Business Intelligence team and building strong relationships with other key departments
- Creating, maintaining and managing Business Intelligence project plans, monitoring delays, resources and potential critical-path issues, escalating to the Head of Business Intelligence as required
- Monitor Business Intelligence development and support resources to ensure work is completed on time and support identification of areas to prioritise
- Monitor and report project risks, issues and opportunities
- Collaborate with the BI team to pursue effective BI development and efficient use of shared data
- Follow the BI development best-practice framework for planning and implementation of business intelligence projects
- Support business analysis and process-mapping activities to identify information requirements and opportunities, translating them into effective documented BI specifications
- Understand and comply with Hitachi data governance principles and controls
- Lead creation and maintenance of data catalogues/data dictionaries and ensure standardised terminology and semantics are used across all report content

- Experience of planning and managing projects
- Competent user of Power BI and Oracle P6
- Understanding of data governance and business intelligence best practices

- Degree level in Business, Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
