The opportunity
As Quantity Surveyor at Hitachi Energy you are part of a team of catalysts for a sustainable future. The demand for energy sector infrastructure is rapidly increasing, we are looking to add a member to our team that is fully focussed on managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from initial calculations to final accounts. Please note we are unable to provide visa support for this position.
How you’ll make an impact
- Prepare and analyse costing for tenders and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client.
- Perform risk, value management, and cost control during the project lifecycle.
- Identify, analyse, and develop responses to commercial risks and advise on our procurement strategy.
- Allocate work to subcontractors, value completed work and manage payments.
- Provide advice on contractual claims, analyse outcomes and write detailed progress reports.
- Maintain awareness of the different building contracts in current use.
- Understand the implications of health and safety regulations.
Your background
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably within large-scale industrial or infrastructure projects.
- Proven knowledge of construction costs, procurement, and contract law.
- Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS Office Suite, quantity surveying software).
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Membership of a professional body (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is desirable.
