The opportunity
As Field Service Manager for our Grid Connections (GC) and Transformer business, you will be dealing with all of our products for up to 400K V. You will be able to recruit, train, lead and develop a multi-disciplined team that is focused on delivering safe, effective, and productive services to our customers. You will be focused on providing technical advice to customers including commissioning, installing, and testing of products.
Location - Remote with travel across the UK, Scotland and Ireland
How you’ll make an impact
- Managing day-to-day operations for Service team and projects, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
- Ensure safe working practices are utilised in the course of maximising outputs and productivity levels; as well as ensure teams are competent, authorised and equipped.
- Championing safety and compliance with HSQE policies and procedures.
- Must integrate into our health and safety culture and also support and produce risk assessments, method statements and test plans.
- Analyse business performance to ensure ongoing delivery of outputs are completed within unit and authorised prime costs, to required quality standards and within required timescales, identifying opportunities for future improvement.
- Prepare and manage budgets and monitor appropriate cost information from relevant financial systems. Focus on minimising discretionary spend and ensuring proactive control of costs.
- Respond appropriately to customer complaints, taking ownership and resolving as appropriate.
- Provide technical support to our operation and project management teams.
Your background
- Extensive experience as Field Service Manager working with switchgears and transformers.
- Previous experience in the installation and commissioning of key elements of the substation project including: Substation equipment; Control & Protection system; Installation, Commissioning and Maintenance.
- Be knowledgeable on international standards and best practice in relation to construction, commissioning and field service.
- Working knowledge on environmental legislation, applicable standards and specifications associated with the electrical works construction.
- Will be required to travel frequently to various project sites across the region and to offshore wind farm projects.
- IT proficiency including collaborative platforms & tools.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
