Your new role is as an Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprentice located in Craigentinny, Edinburgh for a duration of 4 years FTC with a salary of £28,000. The application closing date is 10th July 26 and the planned assessment centre is w/c 20th July 26.

Here at Hitachi Rail, we have a unique and exciting opportunity for an Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprentice. As a Train maintenance Apprentice, you will develop your skills to be able to perform a variety of maintenance tasks whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and efficiency.

Key role and responsibilities:
  • Support maintenance specialists and team members in task specific jobs.
  • Be expected to use the appropriate tools safely and complete jobs to the required quality standard.
  • Be able to operate on your own initiative as well as be an effective team player.
  • Follow standard operating procedures to help maintain the next generation of rolling stock.
  • Carry out additional tasks in support of your team’s objectives.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Participate in the formal apprenticeship scheme to obtain a Level 3 qualification.
  • Attend college and complete course work on time and to a high standard.
  • Attend and fully participate in regular training, career and development reviews with line management, college staff, and other interested parties.
  • Be aware of and actively promote and implement Hitachi’s ethos, culture and values.
  • Adhere to Hitachi Rail Europe’s Equal Opportunities policy.
  • Comply with and implement Hitachi Rail Europe’s Health and Safety policy.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within capabilities as may be required.

Essential Requirements:
  • Enthusiasm for working in a maintenance environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word/Excel/Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Able to work in a professional and confidential manner.
  • The ability to work as part of a team, attend team meetings and eventually contribute to appropriate discussions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Highly motivated and self-driven individual with a desire to progress a career within a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of health and safety requirements of a working environment.
  • Self-motivated with a flexible approach.
Qualifications:

GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths.
