SAP Business Intelligence Senior Developer

Role at Hitachi Rail for development, enhancement and support of the Hitachi Rail Business Information platform, with a focus on HRL’s bespoke Paymech BW reporting solution that calculates invoices to customers considering charges and penalties.

Location: Ludgate Hill, London

Salary: Circa £70,000 DOE

Your new role

We are seeking an experienced SAP BI Senior Developer who will be responsible for the development, enhancement and support of the Hitachi Rail Business Information platform, focusing on Paymech BW reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Gather report requirements from the business for large projects and smaller requirements
• Analyse report requirements, including understanding business processes and source data
• Develop data sources and data flows into BW, including ABAP programming
• Develop frontend reports in tools such as Analysis for Office and SAP Analytics Cloud
• Test and reconcile reports
• Provide day-to-day support of BI solutions as required
• Provide end user training
• Promote and implement Hitachi’s ethos, culture and values
• Participate in staff development and PDP procedures
• Adhere to Hitachi Rail Limited’s Equal Opportunities Policy

• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required

Essential

About you

• Strong BW development skills including BW on HANA with composites and ADSOs
• Function module data sources
• Excellent ABAP programming skills for BW Transformations
• Query development
• Analysis for Office
• Excellent report/data reconciliation skills
• Ability to analyse report requirements, data sources and business processes and translate into technical BW requirements
• Incident resolution – issue analysis and fixes
• Adherence to development and design standards
• BW experience in dynamic environments; ability to be flexible and adaptable
• Experience gathering complex/large report requirements from business; functional requirement documentation
• PowerBI knowledge advantageous but not essential
• Multi-project, matrix-managed environment experience
• Experience with systems development and project management methodologies
• Understanding of ASAP and delivering solutions within ASAP methodology
• Experience in Manufacturing/Service Management organisations
• Excellent/effective communication skills at all levels
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
