We are looking for an enthusiastic, self‑motivated Senior Mechanical Integration Engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced engineering environment. Based in Newton Aycliffe, you will play a key role in shaping the integration of advanced rolling stock systems, ensuring designs move seamlessly from concept through to manufacture. This is an exciting opportunity to work on large‑scale, high‑profile rail projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and international colleagues to deliver innovative and reliable engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out 3D mechanical integration analysis across train components, producing clear and actionable reports
- Lead the development and integration of mechanical systems, including supplier collaboration and co‑design activities
- Manage and maintain the full train digital mock‑up in 3D CAD environments
- Develop and oversee tolerance stack‑up analysis to ensure successful system integration
- Produce full train assembly drawings to support manufacturing processes
- Design mechanical components such as frames, brackets, and supporting structures
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners to deliver engineering excellence
About You
You are a driven engineer with a passion for solving complex challenges and delivering high‑quality results in a collaborative environment.
Essential Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical background
- Strong experience with 3D CAD tools (e.g. Creo, CATIA, Autodesk)
- Ability to work independently and adapt in a dynamic, fast‑changing environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines
- Proficiency in standard engineering and office tools (Word, Excel, etc.)
Desirable
- Knowledge of railway vehicle systems and integration principles
- Familiarity with engineering processes and requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS)
- Understanding of rail standards and regulations
- Passion for the rail industry and continuous improvement
- Willingness to travel occasionally for business requirements
