The predicted salary is between 40000 - 50000 € per year.

This team is dedicated to innovating and enhancing products, components, equipment, systems, and processes, ensuring that all research and design methodologies align with established scientific and engineering standards. In this role, you will contribute to the formulation of business plans and budgets for new product development, while analysing quality and safety test results to ensure full compliance with internal policies and external regulations. You will also be responsible for monitoring development outcomes to confirm that technical, functional, cost, and timing targets are achieved, and in some cases may oversee the regulatory approval process for new products. As a Senior Professional (P3), you will apply advanced knowledge gained through significant education and experience, managing projects and processes with a high degree of autonomy, providing coaching and reviewing the work of junior colleagues, and addressing complex and challenging problems with sound technical judgement.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and continuously improve UK HRL product maintenance plans throughout the life of the trains, ensuring high levels of safety, reliability and availability are met at all times.
  • Develop engineering processes to enable maintenance work to be carried out in an efficient manner in conjunction to UK HRL maintenance strategies.
  • Develop Hitachi’s maintenance philosophy using condition-based maintenance to assist in maintenance activities.
  • Facilitate change control to implement updates to maintenance plans and documentation.
  • Support the continued development of the maintenance management system (MMS) to ensure it meets the needs of the maintenance plan.
  • Assist in optimising the company’s maintenance policy and development of the best European/World Class maintenance practice in support of current and future contracts.
  • Where required, undertake FMECA of systems and drive the FRACAS process to yield targeted maintenance solutions.
  • Liaise with Hitachi and external personnel, including suppliers, as required to undertake the duties of the post.

About You

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience of delivering engineering support while working with a maintenance team in a modern rolling stock maintenance environment.
  • Previous experience in defining and optimising maintenance requirements, including producing justification reports.
  • Understanding of engineering benefits to the maintenance processes implemented.
  • Robust knowledge and experience of railway engineering standards and regulations.
  • Previous use of modern maintenance management systems (MMS) and associated reliability and availability trend analysis.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualified engineer or equivalent proven railway experience.
  • Previous experience of asset maintenance management systems on UK rolling stock.
  • Previous experience in product improvement and reliability engineering on UK rolling stock.

Behavioural

  • Sound knowledge of, and compliance with, rules and regulations (internal and external).
  • Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times.
  • Calm and diplomatic under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to interface effectively with all levels of personnel both within and outside the company.

Desirable

  • Intermediate – Advanced IT skills – typically Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
  • Reading electrical, pneumatic, mechanical schematics and drawings.
