Our Opportunity
We are currently looking for a Lead Electrical Tester to join our One Field Services Team. This role will be based in our Waterloo office and will require working Sunday to Thursday nights.
As a Lead Electrical Tester you will be responsible for ensuring that electrical testing and installation activities are carried out in compliance with Hitachi Rail, LUL and NR procedures as well as the relevant British Standards. The Lead Electrical Tester shares responsibility for the development, management and delivery of the electrical testing programme, which forms part of Hitachi Rail’s preventative maintenance responsibilities under the Connect project. The Lead Electrical Tester will also take part in the delivery of general installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance and fault‑finding activities on telecoms infrastructure as part of the Connect project.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled and periodic maintenance of all Connect assets requiring electrical testing
- Ensure all electrical testing is completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with agreed schedules
- Lead and/or support the investigation and resolution of electrical faults affecting Connect assets
- Diagnose and rectify failures arising from defective Connect electrical assets
- Work collaboratively with London Underground Limited (LUL) personnel to resolve electrical faults impacting Connect assets
- Undertake inspection, testing, and certification of new electrical installations in compliance with current regulations
- Complete Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) for all Connect assets within the timeframes specified under BS 7671
- Review and validate Minor Works Certificates, Electrical Installation Certificates, and Electrical Installation Condition Reports prepared by Hitachi electricians to ensure full regulatory compliance
- Verify that all electrical certification documentation is completed accurately and to the required standard
- Conduct annual office and site assessments alongside NICEIC inspectors to support the retention of Hitachi’s NICEIC accreditation
- Ensure all electrical test equipment is properly maintained and remains calibrated at all times

- Proficient in using computer tools, including the Microsoft Office Suite and database systems
- Must be physically fit to work within a track environment and satisfy all applicable railway medical standards
