Hitachi Energy are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Business Continuity to spearhead our global Business Continuity Management (BCM) program. This pivotal role will focus on setting standards, establishing governance frameworks, and leading initiatives to ensure the resilience of our operations worldwide. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and maintaining policies, processes, and procedures, as well as creating comprehensive training materials. Additionally, this role will provide crucial support to country, site, business unit, and functional representatives, acting as a subject matter expert and championing continuous improvement efforts. This opportunity offers remote working as well the option to work in our Birmingham office.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Establish global standards and governance frameworks for Business Continuity Management to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization.
  • Develop and implement robust policies, processes, and procedures aligned with international standards and industry best practices, tailored to the unique challenges of the energy and engineering sector.
  • Ensure alignment and potentially drive accreditation with key standards globally and in core markets.
  • Create comprehensive training materials and programs for teams and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Provide ongoing support to training initiatives, ensuring a consistent and effective organizational response to disruptions.
  • Collaborate with country, site, business unit, and functional representatives to develop, implement, and maintain effective Business Continuity Management programs tailored to their specific needs and risks.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on Business Continuity Management, providing guidance to key stakeholders, executives, and teams across the organization.
  • Support audit programs to assess the effectiveness of BCM initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement by analysing feedback, lessons learned, and industry developments.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders, including Crisis Management, IT, Supply Chain, and other critical functions, to integrate Business Continuity Management seamlessly into their processes and strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Crisis Management and other stakeholders and teams to ensure an organized and effective response to crises.
  • Provide support to the Head of Crisis Management in the management and maintenance of the existing crisis management platform.
  • Develop options for the implementation of technology solutions to support the BCM program and drive implementation.

Background and qualifications:

  • Proven experience in developing and leading business continuity programs at a global scale, preferably within the energy and engineering industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CBCP, MBCI) is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to business continuity.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs related to business continuity.
