As a Project Engineering Manager, you’ll take ownership of the engineering delivery across UK rolling stock bids and projects. You’ll provide technical leadership, assurance and governance, acting as the key engineering interface between customers, project teams and internal stakeholders. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Acting as the primary engineering point of contact for customers and project stakeholders
  • Providing technical leadership across multi‑disciplinary engineering teams
  • Leading engineering governance activities, including design reviews and project phase transitions
  • Owning and managing technical risk, ensuring mitigations are clearly identified and delivered
  • Overseeing engineering budgets, schedules and resource planning alongside the Engineering Management Office
  • Supporting bids and tenders with strong, customer‑focused technical input
  • Leading engineering delivery in line with systems engineering best practice
  • Chairing Engineering Change Control Boards and ensuring robust configuration management
  • Promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with rail standards and regulations
  • Supporting projects through occasional UK and international travel

Essential Requirements

  • Experience delivering complex engineering projects, ideally within rolling stock or a regulated environment
  • A strong systems engineering mindset
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams or work packages
  • Solid understanding of engineering governance, planning and budgets

Desirable Requirements

  • Knowledge of rolling stock standards
  • Commercial or contractual awareness
  • Experience working across international or multi‑cultural teams

Qualifications
